Projects
We create and deliver projects that end and prevent homelessness
Our projects are designed to foster both community and connection
Whether by creating a sense of belonging within our accommodation services for those we support on their journey or by reaching out to the wider Edinburgh community, through our Community and Volunteering service. Every support service within Rowan Alba is dedicated to preventing homelessness, either by providing supported accommodation or by helping individuals remain in their own homes with the support they need.
Accommodation
We opened our first supported accommodation service in 2004. Based on our experience, learnings and success of our initial service model, we have gone on to manage a further six services dedicated to offering warm and safe accommodation to support the needs of our clients.
Our clients, in many cases, have experienced long-term homelessness, mental health challenges, addiction or violence in the home. By understanding the reasons which can lead to homelessness, we can offer the right support in reducing the chance of it happening again.
Our clients are supported by our trained and dedicated teams 24/7, who work under the practise of compassion without judgement. Our teams are based within our residences to be on hand to offer support when it is needed.

Our community projects extend across Edinburgh, placing us where we need to be to support those, who have experienced homelessness, or may be on the verge of losing their home.
Our community volunteering service leads the way for Rowan Alba in supporting people experiencing addiction and social isolation, stay in their homes with volunteer befriending support. This service addresses the need for community support, particularly through the arts, by setting up our Community Art Group, and laying the foundations in building service-to-service partnerships, through our Power of Partnership initiative.
