Accommodation

Birkentree House

Birkentree House provides a safe and secure home for 14 women who have experienced homelessness and other life-altering challenges, including domestic violence, addiction, mental health struggles, social isolation, or prolonged housing instability. For those who need it, Birkentree House can be a home for life.

Each tenant has their own self-contained living space with an en-suite bathroom, while shared kitchen, lounge, and outdoor areas offer opportunities for social connection and skill-building. With 24/7 on-site support, our team helps tenants develop confidence and independence through activities like cooking, arts, and crafts in a safe and welcoming environment.

“Birkentree is a stepping stone, for where they [our tenants] can be, there’s no judgement, there is no need to worry that they will be chucked out, they are just on their way to building their lives with the support from Rowan Alba.”

Our team at Birkentree House is there to support tenants every step of the way, with some staff drawing on their own lived experience to provide understanding and guidance. Support is tailored to each tenant’s needs, whether that’s connecting with healthcare providers, scheduling appointments, learning essential life skills, or simply having someone to share a coffee or a walk with. From exploring new hobbies to building lasting stability and security, our team is always there to provide support.
