Accommodation
Stramullion
Stramullion provides a safe and supportive home for ten women, as they rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness and the impacts of this on their health. Two residents share an apartment, with shared kitchen and lounge. The service has an outdoor space which can offer a sense of community.
The name Stramullion – Scots for ‘strong woman’ – reflects our commitment to helping residents regain stability and confidence. Our team fosters this strength by creating a safe, welcoming space and offering opportunities for creative expression through cooking, music, and art, experiences our residents may never have had the opportunity to enjoy before.
“I want to thank Rowan Alba for the chance to live here, for giving me my own room for the first time in my life – I have my own bed, my own wardrobe! Rowan Alba changed my life. Thank you to everyone working here for all your effort and patience with me. It is my greatest wish for Rowan Alba to be known well. Thank you with all my heart and soul!”
Stramullion resident
From the moment a resident arrives at Stramullion, they are matched with two dedicated keyworkers who supports them on their journey. This personalised approach helps identify their needs and ensures they receive the right support, whether that’s overcoming addiction, developing life skills, reconnecting with society, or reducing social isolation by building new friendships and connections.
Stramullion also has an on-site NHS psychologist, providing immediate access to mental health support. Having this expertise embedded within the service allows residents to address challenges as they arise. The trust and continuity that have long been central to our support teams’ success are reflected here, offering residents a vital source of stability when they need it most.
