What makes Rowan Alba a different kind of employer?

At Rowan Alba we understand that we all have different journeys. We believe that people change and no one should be written off without being given another chance.

Why is this important when it comes to our staff?

Because we believe in people and value their lived experiences we foster a culture of personal development and peer support. Many of our staff began as volunteers or service users and as their skills grew they took on paid roles. Rowan Alba has a structured framework for career development, which is as supportive of our employees as our tenants. By joining us you will have opportunities to grow professionally and personally, whilst doing life-changing work.

Thorntree Mill - Support Worker

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of homeless men as they settle into their new life with Rowan Alba?

If so, we would be delighted to hear more about you!

At Rowan Alba we specialise in creating homes for life for men who have lived on the streets, sometimes for many years. At our Thorntree Mill development we create a supportive community where each tenant is able to live with dignity.

We firmly believe that homeless people should be free to make their own decisions and be encouraged to live as independently as they possibly can. If you share our outlook, then we would be absolutely thrilled to read your application.

We are now actively searching for a Support Worker to join our team at Thorntree Mill in Edinburgh. We have a full-time, permanent position available at a charitable organisation that is committed to helping those in Scotland experiencing, or at risk of homelessness.

As a Support Worker you will be working with people who are alcohol dependent, have complex (often homelessness related) health needs and are prone to challenging behaviour and episodic poor physical and mental health.
