Thorntree Street - x2 Support Worker

Salary: £23,844.91 per annum

Job Type: Full time. 35 hours per week

Contract type: Permanent

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker who is passionate about supporting individuals. We are looking for a dedicated and committed individual, who has gained experience within a social care setting. worked with people who are alcohol dependent, have complex (often homelessness related) health needs and are prone to challenging behaviour and episodic poor physical and mental health.

As a Support Worker you will be responsible for ensuring that a high-quality person-centered support service is delivered, provide positive, practical, and emotional support to the residents that promotes choice and encourages personal responsibility, and be an effective Team Player in a challenging environment and establish and maintain efficient professional relationships with a range of external services.

You must possess or be willing to work towards a suitable qualification in line with the SSSC Regulatory Requirements.

Birken Tree House - Twilight Support Worker

Rowan Alba, a leader in providing safe housing solutions to the homeless, is excited to announce opportunities at our new development, Birken Tree House in Edinburgh. Birken Tree House is a service exclusively available to homeless women. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Twilight Support Worker to support homeless women on their path to stability and independence. 

We believe in empowering our clients to make their own choices and encourage them to live as independently as they can. If you share our values and want to make a positive impact, then we warmly invite you to apply for the position of Twilight Support Worker with Rowan Alba in Edinburgh. 

We are now actively searching for a Twilight Support Worker to join our team at Birken Tree House in Edinburgh. We have a part-time, permanent position available at a charitable organisation that is committed to helping those in Scotland experiencing, or at risk of homelessness. 

As a Twilight Support Worker, you will be working with women who may have complex health needs, including those related to homelessness, as well as individuals struggling with addiction and challenging behaviours. 

About the Role: 

  • Location: Edinburgh, Birken Tree House 
  • Salary: £13,625.66 per annum 
  • Hours: 20 hours per week, permanent. Hours will be between 5 – 9 pm. 
  • Benefits: 28 days annual leave, 4 public holidays, and contributory pension scheme 

Responsibilities: 

  • Support women with complex health needs, addiction issues, and challenging behaviours. 
  • Ensure a supportive and secure atmosphere overnight. 
  • Empower clients towards independent living. 

Requirements:

  • Willingness to obtain qualifications per the Scottish Social Services Council Regulatory Requirements.

Residential Services - Locum Support Worker

We are looking for flexible, dynamic individuals to join our friendly organisation as Locum Support Workers at our residential services in Edinburgh.

As a Locum Support Worker you will provide housing-related support services to a wide range of individuals. Your role will be to provide tailored support to help address the individual needs of the client to maximise their independence. You will be a self-motivated, solution focused and a forward thinker. You will need to work well, both individually and as part of a team.

CARDS - Locum Support Worker

Hourly Rate : £12.00 + 12.07% holiday pay on top of actual hours worked

OVERALL AIM OF THE ORGANISATION / SERVICE  

We provide community befriending and supported accommodation to Edinburgh’s most marginalised homeless or isolated people.  The outreach service CARDS works specifically with people who have experience of alcohol harm, past or present and the overall aim of the service is to match individuals with volunteers.  

OVERALL PURPOSES OF JOB 

Key objectives of the service are: 

  1. To engage with individual’s identified by the CARDS team and establish a relationship with the overall aim of preparing the individual to receive a weekly visit from a volunteer.  
  2. Explain the CARDS service and support them to make a decision based on information around the values of the organisation and our approach.   
  3. Facilitate a match with a volunteer and supporting the match through double visits and guiding both through the process to a point of safe lone working.  
  4. Assist clients with their individual goals and aspirations and link with mainstream services that can support them to remain well. 
  5. Provide focussed crisis intervention support to clients to access the support they require or the signposting that is relevant.  
  6. Be the first point of contact for the volunteers working with individuals on your case load. 
  7. Take part in team meetings once a week for direction, support and feedback. 
  8. Self-manage your diary to accommodate travel, sessions, admin, teamwork and communications. 
  9. Communicate with CARDS Staff and with updates on client related work.  
  10. Progress specific tasks with individuals delegated by the CARDS team such as, obtaining bus passes, getting out in the community, liaising with agencies, and communicating on behalf of the client to access services.  
  11. Take part in meetings with the CARDS team as appropriate. 
  12. Support with individual projects aimed at improving the effectiveness of the CARDS service and the wellbeing of the CARDS individual clients and the wider CARDS community.
