Learning through Lived Experience
It’s not every day that you get to tell the minister for Public Health Scotland exactly how it is, but that’s exactly what happened, when Joe Fitzpatrick visited the guys at Thorntree.
Gerry regaled the Minister with tales of life on the street, having spent 6 years sleeping rough in Edinburgh before coming to live with us.
Donald had a wide ranging chat around Brexit, nationalism, and books. He described his numerous arrests for being drunk and disorderly, and succinctly summed up what is so different about our approach when he said “In other places they slung you out; here they just put me to my bed.”
Donald, and our other 11 tenants are at home; it’s stable and secure, and isn’t that just what we all want and need?
