Restructure consolidates Edinburgh homelessness charity Rowan Alba following period of significant growth
Rowan Alba, which provides long-term, supported accommodation and community services to those affected by homelessness, addiction and social isolation is growing its team following a recent restructure.
Having tripled in size over the last 3 years the charity consolidated its teams and 7 staff were promoted, to reflect their increased responsibilities, while 4 new posts have been created.
New jobs and more clearly defined roles have been created for people who have a passion for supporting people to break the cycle of homelessness, while providing lasting stability and creating safe and welcoming communities.
“Homelessness continues to be a significant challenge for communities across Edinburgh and Rowan Alba has been steadily building its services, thanks to vital funding from Edinburgh City Council, to support a range of different services for homeless people. Birkentree House, Broomhouse, Aspen Tree House and Fusion services opened over the last two years, more than tripling our support capabilities and creating safe and welcoming communities.
“We recently restructured to consolidate our amazing team and to recognise the growing responsibilities of key members of our staff. As a highly professional, skilled and experienced organisation these new roles reflect Rowan Alba’s need for this new level of staffing. It also highlights growing opportunities for people to develop and grow their practice within Rowan Alba.”Karen Barr

Karen Barr added:
“With the forthcoming Scottish elections, it is vital that the new Scottish Government prioritises support for people who have become homeless and struggle to manage on their own. Rowan Alba works with people who often experience social isolation, mental health and addiction issues and our specialised range of support helps them stay safe as part of a welcoming and caring community.”
