Making a referral

There is different routes to our services. Please see below if you are considering making a refferral.

Community (CARDS) referrals

We are currently funded to receive referrals from Edinburgh Health and Social Care professionals across NHS Lothian, City of Edinburgh Council and the third sector, The Alcohol Referral Team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD) Unit at Milestone House, Edinburgh.

Community (CARDS) self-referrals

You can refer yourself to our Community service (CARDS). Just get in touch with us either by calling 07715082428, or sending an email to cards@rowanalba.org. We won’t ask you to fill in any forms. Please note we are based in central Edinburgh, so can only support you in the Edinburgh area.

Temporary Accommodation referrals

We operate 3 Temporary Supported Accommodation services where we accept referrals for people, over the age of 16, only through the City of Edinburgh Council Temporary Accommodation Team. Fusion is an accommodation for young people aged 16-25, Stramullion is a women’s only service with shared flats and Broomhouse is a mixed service with shared flats.

We also operate a rapid access service, Pilton, which only accepts referrals through the Simon Community’s Street Teams who work with people who are rough sleeping.

Settled (Long Term) Accommodation referrals

We operate 3 Settled (Long Term) Accommodation services which receive referrals only from City of Edinburgh Council’s Access Place social work team, headed by Senior Social Worker, Ross Robertson. Birkentree House & Annex is a female-only service, Thorntree Street is for males over 50 years old and Thorntree Mill is for males under 50 years old.
