About Peffermill

In 2022, Rowan Alba will open a new centre for former street homeless men in Edinburgh’s Peffermill area.

This project has been made possible through the passion of our CEO Helen Carlin and the partnership of Common Ground Against Homelessness, a Community Benefit Society based in Edinburgh.

This project will see a four bedroom Victorian house converted into a designed-for-purpose shared accommodation for nine people living independently. Rowan Alba have been actively involved in the design of the building and it will include community areas for eating and activities, as well as a garden and en-suite bathrooms and cooking areas in each flat.

Our team will provide 24hr care through our unique Thorntree model, which supports every resident in a way which is right for them. By becoming a staff member you could join us on a journey towards a better way of life for 9 people who have struggled to find a place in our society. You should consider applying even if you don’t have lots of experience of this kind of work: values matter more than qualifications to us when it comes to finding the right person.
